About Rathnakar Shetty
Mr. Rathankar Shetty hails from Eliyanadugodu Villege, Bantwal Taluk of Mangaluru District. His Primary to Post Garduation education was from the various institutes of the then undivided South Canara District of coastal Karnataka.Enviornment of mighty Western Ghat foot hills and inland of Arabean Sea influenced him on his physical and mental ability and he became a good performer in sports , games and educational activities from his childhood. His primary education started in Government Primary School and Higher Primary School and Intermediary education at St. Pattrics Higher Secondary School and Government PU College at Siddakatte, Bantwal Taluk. Every academic year he bags highest number of prizes in academic and extra-curricular activity. While he receiving highest number of proficiency/cultural/sports/games prizes from the Chief geuest i.e. Dharmaadhikari, Shri kshethra, Dharmastala, Khavand blessed him to carry forward the same dedication in the line of delivery of justice. Accordingly he opted police service and throughout his carreer he tried to deliver justice to the common man.
Rathnakara Shetty: Guardian of Justice
In the lush foothills of the Western Ghats near the Arabian Sea, in Eliyanadugodu Village of Bantwal Taluk, Mangaluru District, a young boy named Rathnakara Shetty discovered his calling amid nature's embrace. The rugged terrain and coastal winds forged his resilience, turning him into a standout in sports, academics, and extracurricular activity from his childhood. Excelling through primary to postgraduate studies in undivided South Canara, he earned a gold medal for securing highest marks in all the three year degree subjects while he was graduated from Sri Mahaveer College, Moodabidri. He appointed as lecture in Economics in Mahaveera College by Manipal Academy of General Education. while Rathnakar Shetty in college days his drive towords “Uniform service” was exposed to the society through his active participation in social service from NCC camps in various village around moodabidri. He also rendered Uniform service to the nation, as a NCC under Officer by performing Parliament/Assembly election duty. In the Year 1994 he joined as a Police officer in the state of Karnataka.

Rathnakar Shetty sir aced competitive exams—physical, written, and viva-voce—to join Karnataka Police, trained at Mysuru Police Academy. Historically, his background is from western coast of Karnataka (Ruled by Madras Presidency), after joining department, as a thumb rule and a push factor he had an opportunity to serve in Eastern part of Karnataka ruled by kempegowda/Mysuru presidency ) i.e Bengaluru. The say” History Repeats” is applicable to Rathnakar Shetty. Geo-Politicaly history of Bengaluru is always administered by a fair and justifyable leaders and known for their sacrifice. In a democratic set up too dedicated service rendered by uniformed officers always remembered by the citizens, executive, judiciary of Karnataka. In early 1990’s to late 2000, Rathnakar Shetty, being a uniformed Station House Officers sweated, bleeded for the protection of most vulnerable sections of society i.e Women, Daliths, backword, labour classes. In turn society recognized his service and accorded him President of India, Chief minister of Karnataka and Grater Bengaluru Authority Medals/ Awards. Over a period of 32 years, he served and rise to cadre of Deputy Superintendent of Police post. He too served in intelligence wings and as Station House Officer across Bengaluru Police Stations like Anekal, Bannerghatta, Attibele, Hebbagodi, Nelamangala, Cubbon Park, Sampigehalli, Amruthahalli, and Internal Security Division.
Triumphs and Trails
Rathnakara's career brimmed with daring feats, from cracking the brutal kidnapping-murder of C.D. Hosakote student in Anekal to dismantling serial teenage girl abductions in Mantapa village, Bannerghatta. He raided spurious liquor and sandalwood mafias at Attibele border, recovered crores in seized assets at Sampigehalli, and swiftly resolved the Madavara bank dacoity on Nelamangala highway within 48 hours. In a fierce 2005 encounter with the notorious Nasru gang—accused of raping over 20 women and BPO robberies—he sustained a sword wound to the neck yet neutralized the threat, earning honors from Karnataka's CM, including the Kempegowda Award.
Enduring Legacy
From restoring forest lands in Bannerghatta from encroachers to aiding various units in Naxal-free drives of Karnataka and Humanitarian approach to reuniting Undergrounded Naxals with democratic setup, parents after gap of few decades—Rathnakara embodied unwavering commitment, his innovations, in the line of protection to the two wheeler riders on National Highway by planting garden in median of Hebbagodi limits to Tamil Nadu border to curb accidents. His suo-moto cases which was having international ramification later CBI-handled cases, for example fake passports and obtain VISA by forged document by the accused and other sensational case like child kidnappings etc reflect a blend of his intellect and valor. Today, as DSP, he continues safeguarding Karnataka by his beacon of integrity ainmid Dasara processions and urban challenges.
